The role of participation of local communities in the development of tourism in the 22nd district of Tehran metropolis

Abstract

Neglecting local communities in the activities of the tourism industry is considered a fundamental gap in participatory planning in order to achieve sustainable development of tourism. The model of community-oriented tourism development tries to fill a part of this basic gap. Paying attention to the category of social participation in the management of environmental resources by people and participation in various development programs is one of the important elements of urban management and development; which is effective in solving social and economic problems and optimal distribution of services and facilities, in order to increase the welfare and comfort of the people of the city. In this way, playing the role of the people and their participation in accelerating the development process has not been considered as much as it should be. The participation of local communities with Paying attention to diverse functions as well as high ability to establish connections with other economic sectors has been proposed as a strategy for socio-economic development of tourism areas. The growth and development of the tourism industry and its adoption as one of the major economic activities by developed and developing countries and the competition of tourist destinations in order to attract tourists, planners and other groups. The purpose of this research is to investigate the role of local community participation in development. Tourism in the 22nd district of Tehran is a research from the point of view of nature and method; It is descriptive-analytical. The statistical population in this research is District 22 of Tehran municipality and its surrounding areas. The results showed that the indicators of participation of local communities in the development of institutional, economic and social tourism in the studied area are below the average level, and the environmental index in the studied area is at the average level. Also, in the coefficient path test The economic path with a coefficient of 0.879 is the most critical path for the development of tourism with the participation of local communities in the studied area and the path with a coefficient of 0.571 is the most influential in the development .
